  • The 'born again' Christians so prominent today are examined in historical context, with chapters on: the revivalist heritage; fundamentalism; social action and responsibility; and civil religion. A concluding chapter examines the 'electronic church' as the latest manisfestation of evangelical Christianity. This historical study, designed to foster understanding and dialogue among evangelicals and non-evangelicals in the local church setting, was taught as a series of classes in the author's church. Evaluations by the participants and conclusions by the author are included.
