Abstract
  • Parishioners may experience spiritual transformation through the study of icons and the practice of embroidering an icon. The Orthodox tradition of iconography can nurture a renewal of life in Jesus Christ expressed as fruits of the Spirit. The author studied four groups of participants in three churches to determine the impact of the study of iconology, and of embroidering an icon, on participant spiritual transformation. Using a survey, interviews, an exit questionnaire, and observations, the effect of studying iconography and making an icon on participant spiritual transformation was reported.
