Abstract
  • The dissertation deals with the subject of music meeting pastoral care (spiritual) needs of baby busters (persons born between 1965 and 1984). The project consisted of five sessions with the young adult choir of Pendleton Street Baptist Church (Greenville, SC) in a retreat setting. The group answered questionnaires and discussed how certain types of music met their spiritual needs and how it could be used to meet those of their generation. The study concluded that hymnody, classical music and contemporary Christian music best met the needs of this particular group. It also concluded that music can be used to meet spiritual needs of the baby buster generation.
