Abstract
  • Through a workshop using art, new images of Mary of Nazareth, Mary of Magdala, and Mary of Bethany were developed to help United Methodists better understand John Wesley's theology of prevenient, justifying, and sanctifying grace. The use of art proved to be a useful tool in integrating the concept of grace to participants' personal experiences of faith. The author includes discussions of iconography, the influence of Eastern Orthodoxy on Wesley's theology, and the use of theological imagination when reading scripture.
