Abstrakt

While much is written concerning the effects of post-shoot trauma on police officers, there is very little material published on the effects which that trauma has on the marriages and families of police officers. Through the use of questionnaires and interviews with police officers who have used their weapon in the line of duty, the author has examined some of the effects of the trauma on the spouses and children of police officers. While the work is not comprehensive, it is a preliminary survey of the field which demonstrates that the officer's trauma does indeed have an effect on family members.
