Abstract
  • The victim/offender reconciliation program is an alternative sentencing project for offenders by involving the church and the laity a unique opportunity in living out the gospel of reconciling love by participating as neutral third party mediators between the victim and the offender. Through the process of mediation, stereotyped images of who victim and offenders are will be broken down; mutual agreement as what should be done about the offense can be reached; and reconciliation can occur. This program was instituted through the Marshall County Probation Department as a pilot project and because of its initial success has now become a part of the diversion services.
