Abstract
  • The purpose of the study was to learn more about how sexuality and spirituality are communicated by family and church, and integrated into self-understanding. The author interviewed fifty people, women and men, laypeople and seminarians, using a two-hour Life Story interview she designed. She then led a workshop and a retreat, and drew some working conclusions on significant variables in self-concept, sexuality, and spirituality. It was concluded that sexuality and spirituality are integrally related to one another, and to self-concept, and that the family and the Church can in specific ways more effectively nurture an open and responsible positive development and integration.
