- Abstract
- Newcomers to the church have a wide variety of previous experience with Christ and his Church. This project seeks to understand how insights from adult educational theory, a passionate and biblical proclamation of God's grace, and the witness of a few representatives of a community might help new participants enter into the life of the church. Using transformational learning theory, a learning model is developed to help prospective members discover or deepen their understanding of God's grace. This model is tested using a small group of lay leaders whose feedback leads to new insights about what newcomers may really need.
