Abstract
  • Six North American Baptist Sunday Schools and three non-North American Baptist Sunday Schools in the greater Detroit area are compared for the years 1969 through 1979. Church attendance growth patterns are compared with Sunday School attendance figures for 1975 through 1979. The nine Sunday Schools are compared to 'Thirteen Criteria for Growth,' compiled by the writer from Sunday Schools throughout the United States demonstrating numerical growth in the seventies. Month-long Sunday School emphasis in October 1978 and October 1979 are carefully described, the results of the emphases are compared, and projections for numerical growth for the next decade are made. The paper concludes with a fifty-five page appendix of Sunday School materials and ideas used in the emphases.
