Abstract
  • This Doctor of Ministry project was designed as a migrant study among Canadian Transylvanian Saxons. With an examination of existing literature the report began with a historical, theological, anthropological, and missiological prolegomena. The actual project consisted of forty-five in-depth interviews with three generations of Saxons from Kitchener-Waterloo and Aylmer, Ontario. The key conclusion of the research was that the role of the church has substantially deteriorated among all generations of Saxons. When older Saxons insisted on speaking German in club and church, they excluded their younger generation from participation and leadership. Rising rates of intercultural marriages accelerated the exodus from the church.
