Abstract
  • Paralyzed and despairing churches can revitalize when they focus on their unique gifts and purposes, seeing themselves as one part of a larger more inclusive body of Christ. Applying principles of systems theory, a presbytery committee coached church leaders who met together monthly. The leaders experienced and learned to lead a process which included assessing their church's uniqueness; discerning God's call to them; choosing the best place to begin. Each church has begun an on-going process by which the energy of members can be mobilized and focused. Results also include inter-church support and cooperative ministries.
