Abstract
  • This project examines stagnation among small, evangelical churches in Vienna and proposes ways that these small congregations can grow. Based on research and interviews with 21 church leaders, the project recommends changes in fellowship, leadership, and evangelism. Churches should make formal efforts to integrate visitors and to reinforce personal and small-group evangelism with larger meetings. Reluctant native leaders need to become elders, and churches should hire native pastors part-time. Missionaries should redirect their efforts rather than withdraw.
