Abstract
  • The collection of hymns used by any given worshipping community is the singularly most important tool in the definition and formulation of the worship that community accomplishes. Thus, a unique collection of hymns is needed to address the needs of a unique congregation. This project attempts to define the worshipping communities meeting in the chapel of the Massachusetts General Hospital. The unique needs and concerns of these 'congregations' were considered from a practical as well as from a liturgical perspective, and a somewhat non-traditional hymnal was formulated to meet these unusual circumstances.
