Abstract

Christian parents are called by God to train their children as his followers. The author researched relevant biblical passages as well as current texts on parenting and taught a six-week course investigating God's call and how parents can become more confident and competent in fulfilling it. The imagery and practice of biblical discipling were used by the author throughout this course to illustrate the kind of intentional efforts to which God has called parents. The course provides insights on the need for intentional discipleship, the implications of developmental psychology, and guidelines for creating an intentional plan to train children.
