- Abstract
- The purpose of this project was to develop an educational resource that prepared short-term volunteer missionaries for outreach endeavors among the Native Alaskan churches and communities of southeast Alaska. The resource helps volunteer missionaries examine and apply studies of educational learning theories, cultural challenges, and climatic obstacles. This training manual also provides information regarding the histories and effects of major missionary influences of the region's past.Evaluations reported that the manual provided an adequate summary of historic mission endeavors in Alaska's panhandle. The resource material also appropriately fostered cultural sensitivity and utilized user-friendly techniques to provide information.
