- Abstract
- Accompaniment--a mission paradigm advocated by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America--and communio--used in global Lutheran circles to define ecclesiastical relationships--are seldom used together. While both are intended to solidify mission by correcting past dimensions of mission practice and relationships, the author studies the prevailing definitions of these terms and offers a critique of mission from a standpoint of practice and theory. he uses Whitehead's three-stage method of theological reflection in ministry to provide for the basis of a new mission practice that is faithful to accompaniment and communio together, one that finds its core in real practice.
