- Abstract
- This one-volume guide is designed to enable pastors and counselors to join with couples in the process of premarital counseling; create their own counseling plan; learn new tools, resources, and skills; and present the theological emotional, and psychological rationale to governing bodies as to why a congregation should develop a comprehensive policy about marriage preparation. Part I, the theoretical framework, combines the conceptual model of Murray Bowen (family systems) and the methodology of John Gottman. Part II is a five-session manual for premarital counseling. Part III summarizes contemporary trends in marriage education, community marriage policies, and current and pending legislation.
