Abstract
  • U.S. demographics are changing - racial minorities will be the majority by 2042 and the number of churches is expected to decline as the population ages. How will the Church respond? One way is to create multiracial churches by merging monoracial congregations. Through literature research, surveys and interviews, the merits, challenges and opportunities of this ministry approach are examined. Merits include encountering God via different perspectives, and experiencing God's heart for the world through intercultural relationships. Challenges such as the tendency to associate with those like oneself, racial differences, and conflict resolution occur. Lastly, it reveals and models Christ's redemptive work.
