Abstract
  • Perceptive understanding of past events from within a congregation can assist in dealing with current situations. Insights from the past provide guidance for present and future ministries. How issues are addressed becomes important to the church in a pluralistic age. Over one hundred fifty years of religious and social development in the Black Swamp area of Ohio was written as adult curriculum material. This material was taught and evaluated for future use within the congregation. The viability of the program is discussed from the viewpoint of both author and congregation. The conclusion is that local church history can be an effective teaching tool for ministry.
