Abstrakt
  • In this dissertation 204 patristic citations from the entire text of Amos are analyzed by author, verse and content; it then studies the use of Amos 4:13, the verse most frequently cited and most representative of literary and theological diversity, in the first five centuries of Christianity. By investigating the ways in which the Church Fathers of this period made use of this prophetic text in their sermons, letters and theological writings, a contribution is made not only to the history of exegesis and theology, but also to contemporary Christian life.
