- Abstract
- Church membership declines which are caused in part by the separation of members due to participation in the armed forces can be offset by the use of a network of communication between military personnel and the local congregation. A system which included the development of a diocesan armed forces was established and chairpersons were appointed by the bishops to assist congregations in becoming caring people for those away from home. This project was given theological and biblical impetus through the study of I Corinthians 12. Materials including guidelines for congregations and suggestions for armed forces chairpersons were developed and distributed.
