This study investigates the abuse reporting practices of selected parish clergy in southwestern New Hampshire through the use of a questionnaire and personal interviews. The reporting by clergy of any suspicion of certain types of abuse is mandated by state law. The reactions and observations of selected attorneys, judges, and human service workers about the way clergy report abuse is described. Issues are discussed. Abstracts of laws pertaining to the reporting of abuse by clergy and rules of evidence relating to clergy privileged communications are included.
