- The dissertation/project tests and evaluates the hypothesis that in worship and education, many congregations of the United Presbyterian Church in the USA have programmatically segregated adults and children; it develops a theological rationale for the participation of children with adults in the worship life of the local church; and it uses this theological rationale in the creation of specific guidelines for the inclusion of children with adults in the worshiping community. The first task is accomplished through literature reviews and questionnaire analyses. The project then defines the theological rationale for the place and role of children in the congregation and provides ten guidelines for their inclusion with adults in the worship life of the local church.
