Abstract
  • This thesis-project is a study of the U.S. Bishops' document Built of living stones--art, architecture, and worship (BLS), published December 18, 2000. The author examines BLS in the light of practical theology, using the model and method of James D. and Evelyn Eaton Whitehead. This method of theological reflection places Christian tradition, experience, and the resources fo culture in dialogue, suggesting a framework for discussing building and/or renovation of churches, as set forth in BLS. A rationale reflecting a habitus of practical theology develops. Pastoral strategies arise from this rationale. Such strategies offer a future for this study.
