- Abstract
- This thesis project paper explored the training for professional chaplains in assisting victims of traumatic events, their families, and their caregivers. It includes a survey study of the current requirements and practices within the major associations of chaplains in the USA regarding training received and assistance offered by these professionals. It provides guidelines about knowledge and skills the chaplains need in order to be effective in assisting those involved in traumatic events. The research showed the need for improving awareness and training for spiritual care professionals in trauma contexts through the development of educational and practical programs and resources.
