Abstract

This project concerns the function of the 'Herald of Holiness' as the 'official organ' of the Church of the Nazarene. The writer surveyed 64 years of editorial ministry in teaching holiness doctrine. The study expands six editorships. The question answered was, did each of the editors remain faithful to the doctrine of entire sanctification as declared in the Articles of Faith in the Manual? the editorials were evaluated and compared to the seven defining elements of the Manual statement. The writer found the various editors emphasized diverse points, but all proclaimed the doctrine with significant bias (using the chi-squared method).
