Abstract
  • This project develops the thesis that New Testament principles form a prescriptive framework for church bylaws. It combines two research processes: a survey of the content and function of church bylaws of the Northwest Conservative Baptist Association; and a biblical analysis of principles that are foundational to the nature, structure, and function of a New Testament church. Five issues form the framework for a church's bylaws: the church covenant; standards for church membership; church discipline; church polity; and standards for church leadership. Additional legal, practical, and form considerations flesh out the study.
