Abstract
  • Spiritual interventions can be designed to address the psychological and spiritual needs of oncology patients and protocols can be implemented to study measurable outcomes. Three research protocols were developed in a hospital setting. Approval by the hospital institutional review board was obtained, and the studies were implemented. Different populations and approaches were selected to illustrate that quantitative research for spiritual interventions can be implemented throughout the continuum of cancer treatment. Data has been obtained from two of the studies. This research indicates that spiritual interventions such as worship and prayer can be studies for measurable outcomes in a secular setting.
