  • This project is designed to instruct adults who have limited historical background in American church history. The thirteen lessons use visuals to highlight key issues and personalities. Designed to be used with 'Eerdman's Handbook to Christianity in America', this course begins with colonial puritanism, religious diversity, the Great Awakening, and the church in the Revolution. It explores antebellum evangelical expansion in the South and the North, plus divergent religious movements. It features the post-Civil War protestant mainstream, then the Social Gospel and fundamentalism. It concludes with the modern era--the twenties and thirties, the postwar revival, and the present unruly time.
