Abstract
  • Two neighboring, small membership United Methodist churches in an urban situation will be more effective in ministry and begin to experience church growth when linked in a cooperative concept of ministry. Sleepy Hollow United Methodist Parish was born out of cooperation between Epworth and Sleepy Hollow United Methodist Churches (former Methodist and EUB congregations, respectively) in Falls Church, Virginia. Cooperation in areas of worship, Sunday school, youth and Bible study fellowship occurred regularly under the leadership of one pastor. As a result of this project, there emerged one newly constituted, merged congregation after eighteen months as a cooperative parish.
