  • The multiple point charge is an important style of ministry in rural and small town settings throughout the nation. In some denominations, it is the majority style of ministry. Many pastors will serve some, or all, of their pastorates there. Using field studies, pastoral surveys and personal interviews, the author examines and describes factors that pastors in the Central Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church cited as being significant in contributing to or detracting from long-tenured pastorates in such settings.
