Abstract

The purpose of this project was to create an environment in which members' attitudes toward church growth could be examined and in which positive attitudes about church growth could be developed. Chapter 2 presents a theological, biblical, and theoretical foundation for this project. Chapter 3 describes the involvement of the congregation, the development of the research tools, and the implementation of the research design. The selection of participants for the various parts of the study and the presentation of research data from the churches are highlights of this chapter. The ministry as conducted is described in chapter 4. This chapter details the steps involved in the preaching and teaching ministry, and provides the synopses of the sermons preached to the Flint Hill congregation and the lessons taught to the small group. Chapter 5 evaluates the effectiveness of the methods chosen for this project. The two different methods are compared to determine their relative success and to determine the most effective. The chapter concludes with suggestions for further study.
