Abstract
  • The thesis of this project is that congregations regardless of their size, financial ability or age are capable of effectively ministering with and amongst the poor and marginalized. The author used liberation theology as a basis for research and included material from Luke 4:18, as well as The White House Office of Faith Based Initiatives to support the premise that the faith community can collaborate with government agencies and others to transform communities. The result of the project was the establishment of a 501 (c) 3 non-profit community development corporation through the congregation for the sole purpose of providing a ministry of community economic transformation.
