Abstract
  • This dissertation examines how lesbian and gay ministers preach in local congregations that are predominantly heterosexual. Using the case study of a local church in an identity crisis and its gay ministers, this project utilizes interviews, sermons, small group discussions, conversations with church members, and surveys to formulate a lesbian and gay homiletic. Developing this homiletic requires an understanding of not only the rhetoric, theology, and biblical interpretation of sermons, but also insight into the dynamics in the lives of lesbian and gay clergy.
