Abstract
  • This project was designed to discover the top five moral/spiritual characteristics needed to lead a Jewish mission in the United States. After reviewing the history of Jewish missions in the United States, the lives of King David and the Apostle Paul were studies. Relevant secular literature on value-based leadership was then reviewed. The Delphi method was used to poll twenty of the leaders in the field of Jewish evangelism and then five in-depth interviews. What emerged were the top five characteristics needed: personal Godliness (including a strong prayer life), a conviction that Jewish people need Jesus in order to be saved (a passion for the lost and a conviction that you are called to Jewish evangelism), integrity (including honesty, humility, and courage), faithfulness (perseverance), and ability to be a hard worker.
