Abstract
  • This dissertation had as its purpose the determination and interpretation of the effectiveness of the current moral developmental programs in Jewish religious and day schools. The primary concern of the research was to ascertain current levels of moral development and to determine if the curricula in the three schools studied was effective in meeting the moral developmental needs of students. Data was obtained from the results of the Kohlberg Moral Development Test, Form A. The results of this thesis shed light on the effectiveness of ethical teaching within the school systems studied. The dissertation also suggests new ways of approaching the area of moral development within religious school curricula.
