Abstract
  • The hypothesis is: wholistic health care as practiced at The Health Center in Bloomington, Illinois, utilizing pastoral counseling will significantly decrease the frequency of patient initiated visits made to physicians. This study is theologically informed by the concept of faith as grace with courage, the power enabling individuals to encounter and calm the anxiety of finitude. The research designed is quasi-experimental using a pretest, posttest and comparison group. It is an outcome study. Total participants in the study numbered 68. Statistical analysis consisted of an analysis of variance and linear step regression of gain scores. The research hypothesis was affirmed at the .05 level of significance. In addition, trends were studied and reported in relation to diagnosis, sexual and marital status.
