  • The project's purpose is to learn ways for me as a preacher to help congregants remember the content of sermons better. Discussion focuses on sermon memory as it relates to my own experience, the church's varied theological understanding, Scripture, and the insights of psychology. Research explores the meaning, importance, and development of memory in the ancient faith community, preaching as oral communication, twenty-first century culture, sermon delivery, sermon structure and content, visual and/or auditory aids, and the role of the Holy Spirit in memory. Strategies are developed, implemented, and tested to help congregation members remember the preached word.
