Abstract
  • This study was conducted in order to provide an alternative music program for those Black churches which are experiencing organizational problems within their music departments. A survey was conducted with a treatment group and a control group. The treatment group was reissued the survey after a year's time. The treatment group also was part of a workshop seminar. The workshop and survey stressed the importance of music as ministry, music education, the retention of cultural tradition, and the need for a variety of sacred music.
