Abstract
  • First Baptist Church of Decatur, Georgia, is an historic church located in the Atlanta area. The Decatur community is affluent and highly educated with limited faith involvement. The church has gradually declined for twenty years though attempts were made to follow recommendations from numerous growth consultants. Based on the belief that hindrances to growth were church health related, the purpose of the project was to develop a plan for church growth based on the findings from an appropriate church health assessment. Once limiting factors to health were discovered, a plan for growth was designed based on assessment results taking into account church strengths and weaknesses.
