- Abstract
- This project proposes to examine the phenomenon of family separations and reunions as experienced by navy and marine corps families whose husbands/fathers must often go to sea or to foreign shores. Drawing upon a biblical perspective, this essay will examine implications for ministry to families experiencing separation and reunion. Hoping and waiting are biblical themes which suggest that separated families experience varying degrees of suffering. This suffering is not only ever-present during separation, but may actually serve the family as family members seek to reunite the family unit.
