  • The project describes a pastoral approach to recovering chemically dependent families. Family aftercare is critical in chemical dependency treatment. Church, pastors, and local communities need a strategy to participate in this aspect of treatment. The author uses a process theology perspective in developing an approach to pastoral care and counseling. Methodology involved research in family therapy and chemical dependency, and implementation of aftercare sessions developed for recovering families. The report concludes that clergy and the local church should participate in counseling families following treatment for chemical dependency. The process perspective proved a valuable theological resource.
