Abstract
  • This project equipped members of Southlawn United Methodist Church in Chicago, Illinois, with necessary skills to become more effective in Christian mission and empowered them to build relationships with the community. Several methods aided the success of this project: community and church surveys, various workshops, on-on-one interviews, community meeting of clergy, lay and political leaders, worship and Bible study. Results clearly indicate that members of Southlawn United Methodist Church have a broadened understanding of Mission, are seeking to initiate ministries that are relevant to the needs of the people and have developed/redeveloped a relationship with the community.
