  • This project explored the experiences of the bivocational pastors in the Evangelical Free Church of America. Two surveys were employed: an eight item survey was sent to district superintendents; and a sixty item survey was sent to pastors. The superintendents reported that these pastors served credibly in two capacities: pastoring small churches and as new church planters. The pastors were married men in their late twenties or early thirties. Most had some form of formal pastoral training, half having completed seminary. All found pastoring to be satisfying. The negative issues were isolation, time pressures, and a lack of affirmation of their service.
