Abstract

The purpose of this project was to train leaders of Summitview Baptist Church, Yakima, Washington, in conflict mediation. The project was designed to help the participants understand their personal attitudes about conflict, to develop an awareness of mediation, and to train them to become mediators by using a mediation model. The project involved a pre-seminar test, a conflict management inventory, lectures on the theological and theoretical basis for mediation, role play, and case studies. At the end of the seminar the participants wrote a paper on their understanding of conflict mediation and how they had used the material presented in the seminar.
