Abstract
  • The twenty years since the formation of the Presbyterian Church (USA) have been marked by theological debate, political confrontation, and partisan divisiveness. The official formulations of Presbyterian doctrine have failed to produce a unity in the church that endures. The project listens to the circumstance-limited testimony of a group of Presbyterian pastors to discern from that speech an operating doctrine of the church in our time. It explores the potential resources for unity contained in that operating doctrine as it emerges as the most important and abiding orientation for the theological life of the denomination.
