Abstract
  • This is a case study that offers ways and means for a small rural congregation to be in ministry with its community while also addressing the needs of the congregation. This can be accomplished by a few individuals, utilizing gifts and graces found within the congregation. The needs and wants are ascertained through questionnaires, surveys, and focus groups. This study concluded that this does work when there is congregational support; however, without congregational support this will not work. One obstacle was found with those individuals who use the focus groups as a means of venting their anger and frustration. Overall, this study is concluded to be a success because it identifies the ministry needs of their small rural congregation, and then shows that the congregation can meet those needs, as well as be about God's work within their community.
