- Christian congregations experience attrition in alarming proportions. Older members are less available and ultimately die. Single members and young families leave communities for many reasons. Congregations endure with empty pews, mortgages, struggling programs, and thoughts about moving to new locations. The latest trends in the Protestant world offer appealing solutions to congregational problems. members seldom realize how contradictory these answers usually are to their biblical theology and confessional standards. The author sought answers in denomination and congregation histories to help Christians find problem solving and church planning examples that are biblically and confessionally consistent with the needs of aging churches.
