Abstract
  • Recent studies suggest that the quality of, and use of artistic skills in, liturgical preaching is poor in American Roman Catholic parishes. This project offers a response to a need for more imagination in biblical hermeneutics for liturgical preaching. It also offers a homiletical model for applying such interpretation. Midrashic and theopoetic principles of storytelling were adapted to design a packaged approach that links biblical hermeneutics with homiletical technique. Quantitative and qualitative research was used to gather and evaluate data on the effectiveness of this method in the Diocese of St. Petersburg. The results were overwhelmingly positive and showed cause for parish attendance.
