Abstrakt

From 1984-1987 the Archdiocese of Milwaukee was involved in a diocesan synod which involved over 100,000 lay, religious, and clergy in a series of parish, regional, and diocesan meetings. The synod experience and its 89 recommendations resulted in significant changes in the diocese. This project was designed to assist anyone considering a synod or anyone currently involved in a synod by describing the Milwaukee experience. It includes: why a synod, what is a synod, the process: how it happened, the building block, reflections, and appendix.
